Performance Engineer

Our client, a global leader in financial services, is seeking a skilled Performance Engineer to join their Performance Engineering Team in Waterford.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical systems, ensuring applications are highly reliable, scalable, and performant in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and execute performance testing strategies for complex enterprise applications.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance performance test scripts and automation frameworks.

  • Analyse test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and work closely with development and infrastructure teams to resolve issues.

  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous performance validation.

  • Support the diagnosis and resolution of production performance issues.

  • Collaborate and mentor junior team members, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.


Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in performance engineering or testing, including recent hands-on delivery in enterprise environments.

  • Strong practical experience with LoadRunner (preferred), and exposure to tools such as JMeter, NeoLoad, or Selenium.

  • In-depth knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or New Relic.

  • Proven experience analysing and optimising performance for:

    • Java-based applications

    • Containerised / serverless architectures

    • Databases (MSSQL, Oracle, DynamoDB)

    • Modern JavaScript front-end systems

  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.

  • Experience with AWS and integrating tests within CI/CD pipelines.
